Canadians need more up-to-date options for treatment of medical conditions for the national healthcare system. Because humans are unique, not all medications and treatments are effective for everyone.
As a consequence, many patients’ symptoms are not well-managed and there are still diseases without a cure. Although researchers are willing to continue to investigate the human condition and delve for those elusive options, there are challenges to overcome. Instead of covering available treatment options, public and private insurance providers often inhibit progress by responding counterintuitively. In this age of quantum leaps in understanding our uniqueness, we must offer patients more choices, not fewer. Patients are diverse and disease is a serious matter. When innovative, effective treatments come to market, patients need access.
