Fecal incontinence is an embarrassing and debilitating condition that has become a major, growing health concern and remains grossly understudied. In the Journal of Health Science we have identified the need for on-going education and training of both paid and volunteer care-givers; the proper listing of FI as a subsidizable disability that impairs quality-of-life; and public-private-not for profit collaboration to optimize the care provided elders living at home.
